2022 Edition

Onwards to a 41st edition in theatres and online!

Our 41st edition already promises to be a colourful one, with many special programmes to celebrate our reunion: a new Queer Stories evening celebrating LGBTQia+ love in animation, a parallel festival of VR (virtual reality), numerous programmes for children, including the return of Pingu to the big screen, or the preview of The Summer Holiday, latest offering of A Town Called Panic, and much more! The Festival will also honour the new generation of Czech animation, as well as the productions from French animation schools, whose films show a surprising quality and diversity.

The official selection of short films will be revealed on Friday, 3 December

Pieter De Poortere has given us the immense pleasure of designing the poster for Anima 2022, with the “steamship” Flagey underwater and Boerke (aka Dickie, Pieter’s famous comic book and animation series character) at its top, who doesn’t notice the proliferation of a new underwater world, populated by iconic characters.

Pieter De Poortere

Pieter De Poortere is best known for his wordless comic strip Dickie, which has been published in eight countries so far. With his production company De Hofleveranciers, he made an animation series around Dickie. He is exhibited at the Comic Art Museum in Brussels and has worked with the Museum of Fine Arts in Ghent.
