The Future of Animation Takes Shape at Anima !

Anima is coming soon... But so is Futuranima! Save the date: The meeting place for Belgian and international animation talents, the Futuranima professional days, will take place from Monday 28 February to Saturday 5 March, at Flagey and online on the Anima Online platform.

With its masterclasses, conferences, round table discussions, studio presentations, work in progress, meetings with filmmakers and Q/A sessions, Futuranima actively takes part in the evolution of animation by encouraging exchange, sharing and emulation between the many players in the sector. All these meetings are also open to the public who would like to know more about the world of animation !

FUTURANIMA WILL BE ONLINE TOO !

Take part in the Futuranima experience from home on our Anima Online platform: with videos of Belgian and European directors, animation studios, a visit to their workplaces, and other exclusive content, there will be special contents for everyone !

Anima would like to thank all its co-organising partners, without whom the Futuranima meetings would not be possible: the French Embassy, Amplo, the Screenwriters’ Association (ASA), Blink Blank, Brotaru, Cartoon, the Czech Film Centre, Creative Europe Media Desk Wallonia-Brussels & Flanders, mediarte, the PILEn, Sabam for Culture, the SACD, the Scenaristengilde, screen.brussels, UniFrance, the VAF (Vlaams Audiovisueel Fonds) and visit.brussels.

Full details of the Futuranima professional days programme will be revealed on 1 February 2022

A SPECIAL VR MASTERCLASS WITH URI KRANOT

For our 41st edition, we have the honour to welcome Uri Kranot, who will be coming from Denmark to explain how he works on the transition from a linear film to an immersive storytelling in virtual reality. He will take as an example his latest film The Hangman at Home, co-directed with Michelle Kranot, which has been selected and awarded in several festivals around the world.

A MAKING OF SESSION ABOUT WHERE IS ANNE FRANK

Come and discover the behind-the-scenes production of Ari Folman’s latest feature (after Waltz with Bashir and The Congress), which is an adaptation of the famous Diary of Anne Frank, with the Belgian studio Walking the Dog. The team will share with us its creative and technical contribution to the project throughout the different phases of this coproduction.

SPOTLIGHTING FRENCH AND CZECH ANIMATION

Anima will be paying particular attention to achievements from two European countries: France, with whom Belgium maintains a great bond in terms of co-productions, and the Czech Republic, a country with a long tradition of animation that continues to prove its worth internationally. The programme includes a presentation of the innovative schools and studios based in these two countries, as well as special screenings of their latest films!
