The festival takes great pride in their film selection and choice of jury members, which means that the festival prizes go to very diverse and exceptional range of films. With that in mind the Grand Prix winning films are the sort of films that we feel enhance the quality of the Academy long list for animated shorts.”

Joanna Quinn and Les Mills, Academy members and 2022 Nominees

While I had never attended Anima before, I found it to be a vibrant, serious, and wide-ranging celebration of the art of animation. I was particularly impressed by the outreach to schools — bringing in many schoolchildren to not just enjoy the animation, but to appreciate it as an art form. Additionally, Anima is truly international, celebrating animation from all over the world, and not just the homegrown Belgian industry”.

Michael Arndt, Screenwriter, Academy Award Winner 2006

" Anima is more than a festival; it is a catalyst for artistic inspiration, collaboration, and growth. Its impact extends beyond the festival dates, leaving an indelible mark on the animation community.”

Theodore Ushev, Academy Member and 2017 Nominee
