The call for entries for Anima 2026 is now closed! Thank you to everyone. The next call for entries will open in June 2026.

Anima, the Brussels International Animation Film Festival, will take place from 20 February to 1st March 2026 and will celebrate its 44th edition. In addition to attracting professionals from all over the world, Anima is also a popular and family festival that welcomes more than 40,000 festival-goers every year.


Anima considers all films completed after June 2024 and belonging to the following categories as eligible for competition:

  • Feature Films
  • Feature Films for Children
  • International Professional Short Films
  • International Student Films
  • International Short Films for Children
  • National Short Films

Anima is a qualifying festival for the ACADEMY AWARD® for Best Animated Short Film and awards a wide range of international animated films. British short films selected in one of our competitions are also eligible for the BAFTA Award for Best Short Animation.

The directors/producers of the selected films will be notified by email personally. After selection, please send all additional documents (dialogues/subtitles/press kit/biography/director's filmography) by email to selection@folioscope.be.

For the fifth year in a row, the winners in the main competition categories will receive, in addition to the cash prizes, an Anima trophy: a Uō, a unique piece designed by the artist Peggy Boursin.
