2025 Edition
Anima, Take 44!
It is with great pleasure that Anima unveils the poster for Anima 2025, designed by the talented Raman Djafari!
"The poster shows the moment after the big celebration, the party guests are falling asleep, the tinsel is scattered across the floor, and the costumes wrinkled into colorful landscapes. An eerie spirit is in the air, a magical haze, that guides us softly from the rush we already lived into the dreams we are yet to dream."
This is exactly the feeling we can have as we sit together in front of the festival screen, daydreaming, relieved to finally be quiet in the dark, ready to welcome the poetry of animated cinema and let ourselves be carried away in an enchanting world.
The next edition of Anima will be held at Flagey and Marni in Brussels and at a dozen other venues across Belgium from 28 February to 9 March 2025, i.e. during the school holiday for both French- and Dutch-speaking children! The Festival will show more than 150 films spread over more than 100 screenings for festivalgoers young and old. It is the magical poster by Raman Djafari that has inspired this year's theme: Dreams. For 10 days, let yourself be transported through a selection of films, from new releases to great classics, for all ages, in the different venues of the Festival. But that's not all! Anima will also feature a focus on Austrian animation, with a special emphasis on their experimental work. Join us for this edition packed with surprises, laughter, and magical moments!
Berlin-based illustrator and animator Raman Djafari explores emotion and fragility through colourful images and fragmented narratives, creating worlds and characters that are both real and imaginary. They have directed music videos for artists including Elton John, Dua Lipa and Ashnikko, and collaborated with Adult Swim and The New Yorker.
