The young boy falls in with Yacouba, a travelling trickster who takes on the role of an improvised guide. But on the road, an encounter with child soldiers sends Birahima’s destiny spiralling. Drawn into the conflict against his will, what lies ahead for him on the path of war? Based on the eponymous novel by Ahmadou Kourouma, winner of the Renaudot Prize and the Goncourt des Lycéens Prize.
