Jiří Barta

After graduating from the School of Arts and Crafts in Prague in 1975, Jiří Barta worked at Jiri Trnka Studios and with Zdenek Miler (La Petite Taupe, 2007). He directed the emblematic Krysar, the Flute Player, and Funny Attic (2009). This inventive and passionate animator is considered by his peers and the public as one of the masters of Czech animation.

Jean-Jacques Denis

After studying at Les Gobelins, Jean-Jacques Denis began his career as a storyboarder on various animation series. In 2010, he began a fruitful collaboration with Ankama (Krosmoz, Wakfu, Dofus…). He co-directed his first feature, Dofus – Book I: Julith (2015) with Anthony Roux, before working with him again on Princess Dragon (2021).

Anthony Roux

Anthony Roux, aka Tot, is a writer, screenwriter and film director. After graduating from Beaux-Arts in Tournai, he surrounded himself with former classmates and other talented collaborators at Ankama where he is President and Creative Director. He thought up the worlds of Krosmoz, Dofus and Wakfu and co-directed Dofus – Book I: Julith (2015) followed by Princess Dragon (2021) with Jean-Jacques Denis.

Uri Kranot

Uri Kranot is a precursor of VR animation based in Denmark. He and his wife, Michelle, have already made such films as Black Tape, Terre d'écueil and How Long not Long, and more recently the film and virtual reality installation Nothing Happens. Their work has been recognized by prestigious prizes including the Fipresci Prize in Annecy, the Oscar Academy shortlist and the Danish Statens Kunstfond prize for living arts.

Florence Miailhe

After training as a visual artist, painter and engraver at the school of Decorative Arts in Paris, Florence Miailhe now makes pictorial and personal animated short films. Her work has garnered many awards, including an Honorary Cristal at the 39th Annecy Festival in 2015, a special mention at the Cannes Film Festival in 2006 for Conte de quartier, and the César for best short film in 2002 for Au premier dimanche d'August.

Michaela Pavlátová

After graduating from the Academy of Arts in Prague in 1987, Michaela Pavlatova started out on her career as an animated film director. She won the short film Cristal at Annecy 2012 for Tram, which was also shortlisted for an Oscar. Today she teaches at a number of art and animation schools in Prague, San Francisco and at Harvard.

José Miguel Ribeiro

José Miguel Ribeiro was born in 1966. He studied drawing and puppets animation in Lazennec-Bretagne (Rennes) and in Filmógrafo (Porto). With the short film The Suspect he received the Cartoon D’Or 2000. In the last few years he directed the stop motion TV series (26x2’) Home Things, the short film Sunday Drive and the drawn animated film Journey To Cape Verde. Simultaneously, José Miguel Ribeiro illustrates children’s books and teaches animation in Portugal.

Thibaut Ruby

Thibaut Ruby is a French animation producer and one of the co-founders of Folivari and the Fost studio. He was production director for Ernest & Célestine (César for best animated film in 2014) and The Song of the Sea (nominated for the Oscars and Césars in 2015), and now oversees all Folivari's productions and Fost’s services.

Hugo de Faucompret

After an Applied Arts degree and a DMA in Engraving at the Estienne school in Paris, Hugo got his diploma of Designer and Director of Animated Films at the Gobelins. He directed several films at the school or on his own, also trying his hand at live action. His first animated film Racines was produced by Kawa at the end of his first year at the school. He directed Que Dalle, his final year film with four friends who were part of the same collective, the STZ (“Souviens Ten-Zan”).

Kajsa Naess

Kajsa Næss is one of Norway's leading animation filmmakers. Her short films have been widely acclaimed and won prestigious awards. In 2006 she co-founded the Norwegian animation festival Frame by Frame. She also teaches animation at the Westerdals School of Communication.

Pieter De Poortere

Pieter De Poortere is best known for his wordless comic strip Dickie, which has been published in eight countries so far. With his production company De Hofleveranciers, he made an animation series around Dickie. He is exhibited at the Comic Art Museum in Brussels and has worked with the Museum of Fine Arts in Ghent.
