Belgian Animation Rendez-Vous

Are you a screenwriter or literary author looking for a graphic designer, director or designer to bring an animation project to life? Are you a graphic author, director or designer looking for a scriptwriter or author? SACD, in collaboration with ABRACA, ASA, deAuteurs, Folioscope, Scenaristengilde and Unie Van Regisseurs, is launching the 8th Belgian Animation Rendez-vous. Applications are open until Thursday 30 January 2025 to both emerging and established filmmakers!

The Belgian Animation Rendez-vous
The aim of the Belgian Animation Rendez-vous programme is to encourage artistic ‘love at first sight’ between different profiles of professionals in order to create an animation project.

It is organised around three stages:
1. Speed dating: one-to-one meetings between writers/scriptwriters and directors/animators at the Anima 2025 Festival, followed by a lunch to get to know each other better.
2. Three coaching sessions spread over the year to :
Review projects with script and animation experts.
Prepare for pitches and public speaking.
3. A public pitch session: at the 2026 Anima Festival, one year after the launch, participants will present their project in front of producers and industry professionals.

Bonus: support in putting together a solid potfolio to apply for subsidies or to present to production companies!

Call for applications
Eligible profiles and projects
Applications are open to the following profiles:

- Graphic and literary authors of novels, comics, children's literature, illustration, etc. who want one of their projects (whether or not it has already been published) to be adapted into a series or animated film;
- Scriptwriter, whether you have a script project for which you are looking for an animator, or you want to adapt a literary project or script an existing animation project;
- Designer, whether you have an animation project for which you need the collaboration of a scriptwriter, or you're looking for scripts to animate.
- Director, whether you have an animation project for which you need the collaboration of a scriptwriter, or you are looking for scripts to animate. Eligible projects include short films, web series and documentaries.
This year, the focus is on emerging writers who want to continue their professional development. Experienced filmmakers are also welcome!

Important to know
The pitch session from the previous edition will also take place on Thursday 6 March and will be held from 2.30pm to 4pm at Anima. We invite you to attend!
