During World War II, Jutka, aged 7, thinks she came to Łódź on holiday, but in fact she is living in a ghetto. Her grandfather turns their everyday life into a legend to preserve her innocence in the face of horror: Łódź becomes an ancient labyrinth and the Nazis, a mythical monster.
